AMU's Horner Crushes Tactical Div. Field
At USPSA Multi-Gun Nationals
BOULDER CITY, Nev. — Daniel Horner of the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit left no doubt as to who is the top Multi-Gun shooter in the country as he crushed a field of nearly 85 shooters to win the Tactical Division title at the 2009 U.S. Practical Shooting Association’s (USPSA) Multi-Gun National Championships.
Horner dominated the match by winning nine of the 12 stages and posting a final score of 2280.2351, more than 356 match points ahead of his nearest challenger, second place shooter Glenn Shelby of Aztec, N.M.
“The Army Marksmanship Unit is known for making champions and Daniel’s dominating win at this year’s Nationals proves that the AMU is still in the championship business, and business is good,” said Dave Thomas, executive director for USPSA.
Rounding out the top five in the Tactical division were Shelby in second with 1923.2727 and two stages wins. In third place was Team SureFire’s Barry Dueck of Fountain Valley, Calif. shooting a final score of 1877.0010. Horner’s AMU teammate, Robby Johnson, took fourth with 1851.7744 points a one stage win, and Jared Milinazzo claimed fifth with 1834.0690.
The Multi-Gun National Championships were held October 22-25 at the Boulder Rifle and Pistol Club in Boulder City, Nevada and drew 135 top shooters from around the country to test their skills in a shooting format that utilizes the rifle, shotgun and pistol.

It appears that the reserved block of rooms at the Sunset Station Casino and Hotel has been filled. If you are needing a room at the match hotel and have been informed that the block is full, please contact Matt Pickhardt either by email or at 360-855-2245 and he will make sure a room gets added for you. At this point rooms must be added individually to avoid USPSA being charged for rooms not used.

The round count for the 2009 DPMS USPSA Multi Gun Nationals is now out. This information will also be posted on the left sidebar for permanence.
The round count is approximately 160 rounds of handgun, 110 rounds of rifle, 115 rounds of birdshot and 20 slugs. There are some targets that may be taken with your choice of firearms, be sure to bring some extra ammunition for each firearm for reshoots, extra shots, etc.
There was an error on the Multi Gun application which may have caused some confusion. 'Heavy Metal' was listed next to the categories, although it is not a category. We intended it to be an 'add' for the division - If a shooter was signed up for Tactical, for instance, and also circled 'Heavy Metal', we would place them in the Heavy Metal Tactical Division.
Suffice it to say, this hasn't worked very well at all. If you are signed up to shoot the 2009 DPMS USPSA Multi Gun Nationals and would like to shoot in either Heavy Metal Tactical or Heavy Metal Standard(Limited) Divisions, please email Matt Pickhardt in order to get your entry changed. We can also make this change at registration, but for efficiency's sake it is better to switch as soon as possible. The updated application is available on the left sidebar as well as below:
