MudBowl II photos available

To everyone who shot, sponsored or staffed the 2008 Smith & Wesson LPR USPSA Championship and the USPSA O/L10 Championship, thanks for helping to make it a great time. Although the weather made for some interesting conditions on the ground, it was still some incredible shooting. PhotoMotion Photography was out at a couple of stages taking photographs of each competitor's run if you are interested in purchasing visual aids for your storytelling.

Final Squad Assignments Now Posted

From the Range Master:

The Squad Lists for the 2008 USPSA LPR and Open/L10 National Championship Matches have been revised. Due to time constraints, no further changes will be made, so please don't ask. As a reminder, we will not do squad changes at registration. Please note your squad number and examine the squad matrix to determine when you will be shooting.

Good luck to everyone entered in the matches.

Troy McManus
Range Master, USPSA National Championship Matches

An additional note on time constraints is that Troy was contending with a hurricane during squadding and is now contending with a huge cleanup. This will further prevent any changes to squadding from this point on. Thanks for your understanding. The Smith & Wesson LPR squad list is here [pdf] and the OL10 list is here [pdf].

No sense in tempting a good man

At last year's Nationals we had a few cars broken into at the hotel parking lot. I am contacting the Tulsa PD to see about increasing patrols while we are there, but the best way to avoid being a victim of theft is to make sure you take your valuables inside with you when you park at the hotel. While USPSA is not responsible for lost or stolen items, we certainly want to do what we can to protect you and your things. You can also help look out for your fellow shooters; If you see suspicious activity, please call the police.

Squad List is up!

***Update: The lists have been corrected and reposted - Some of us aren't from the 21st century and need a couple tries to get it right***

I know everybody has been aching to see who they're shooting with. You can now view the squad list, which is posted on the sidebar. You can also see the S&W LPR list here [pdf] and the O/L10 list here [pdf].

Please note that the squadding team did everything they could to accommodate your requests, but that in some cases it was not possible to make everyone happy. They did their level best to take care of as many requests as they could.

With the exception of last minute competitor additions and cancellations, squadding is *done*. We will not be taking last minute requests now or at registration. There simply isn't enough time to handle everything that needs to be done to have a good match and also keep re-configuring squads. If you have questions or concerns about your squad, please contact Troy McManus.

Huge News!

Smith & Wesson Named Overall Sponsor of USPSA Limited/Production/Revolver National Championships

Sedro-Woolley, WA — Smith & Wesson, the legendary 156-year old firearms maker, is the overall match sponsor for the 2008 United States Practical Shooting Association (USPSA) Limited, Production and Revolver Championships according to USPSA officials. The match, which will be known as the Smith & Wesson Limited, Production and Revolver USPSA Championships, will be held in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the U.S. Shooting Academy September 7-9, 2008.

Smith & Wesson is also a Gold level sponsor for USPSA’s Open, Limited-10 National Championships as well as the 2008 Multi-Gun Championships. As part of their sponsorship Smith & Wesson has donated a number of pistols including specially engraved models for the men’s and women’s champion in each of the five handgun divisions.

“The name Smith & Wesson is synonymous with the shooting sports and they have been longtime supporters of USPSA. We are honored to have our 2008 Nationals associated with one of the oldest and best known brands in America and appreciate their generous support of our National Championship Matches,” said Dave Thomas, Executive Director of USPSA.

“Smith & Wesson is very pleased to take on this title sponsorship as we increase our support for shooting sports at all levels. It is an honor to have our name associated with such a prestigious event. We are very proud to do our part in helping to develop championship level competitions,” said Tom Taylor, Vice President of Marketing for Smith & Wesson.

More than 625 of the nation’s top handgun shooters, as well as several from outside the United States, are expected to compete in the championships where they will negotiate their way through stages on two field courses on their way to putting more than 280,000 rounds down range. The National Championships are the highlight of the practical shooting season in the United States, and in 2008, a preliminary for the International Practical Shooting Confederation (IPSC) World Championships at the end of October in Bali, Indonesia.

Friendly Reminder

The June 2nd deadline for slots is fast approaching. All slots were mailed at the end of February. If you accepted a slot offer and have not received your slot, please call Matt at the USPSA office immediately to find out what happened. There is still time to turn around the slot through the mail, and we want to see you in Tulsa. Any slots not returned by June 2nd WILL be voided and distributed through the wait list, no exceptions. Not even for clerical errors on our part or personal hardship on yours. It is your responsibility to bring this to our attention because we have no way of knowing that you didn't receive your slot. Tell your buddies to get on the ball if they are waiting patiently for the mailman each day. It should have been there by now!

Thanks for your cooperation and we'll see you on the range!

Wait List

This year the wait list will open at 12:01am, Eastern Daylight Time, on May 26th. Those who wish to stay up to enter themselves on the list that night, thus insuring a low number and high slot probability, will not have the option of paying the wait list fee at that time. The entry will be recorded in the order in which it was posted to the system, an acknowledgement email will be sent, and a notice will be added to the member’s online classification record.

That person’s place on the wait list will be held until June 2nd. It will be their responsibility to return to the web page sometime between May 27th and June 1st using either the link included in the email or shown as part of the classification record to pay the $25 wait list fee.

Failure to pay the fee within the generous time period reserved for that purpose will result in that member’s name being removed from the wait list. Everyone who signed up later who paid their fees will move up on the list at least one place.

Please note that this procedure applies only to those who enter their information on the wait list during the first few hours it is open. All others will be given a link that will take them to the wait list fee payment area immediately after entering their information on the list. The effect of this procedure will be to spread the server activity over a longer time period, thereby avoiding the sudden surge in processing demand that created problems in 2007.

Returning to the web page and paying the fee is the member’s responsibility. There will be no exceptions. If for any reason the fee is not paid during the specified period the record will be removed from the wait list. There can be no appeal.

The purpose of providing this information here is to give a "heads up" so that the change won't come as a surprise in the early hours of May 26th. There will be step-by-step instructions leading members through the process when they enter their information on the Nationals wait list page.

Good luck and we hope to see you in Tulsa!
