USSA

The Open/Production Nationals in Tulsa, Oklahoma is a USPSA event and a slotted match. This means you must either earn a slot or get one from the wait list when it opens in May.

Please DO NOT contact US Shooting Academy for information on the match or to request slots. All information such as schedules, stages, and other match details will be posted here and/or sent out later in confirmation packets. If you have a question that isn't addressed here, please contact USPSA HQ at 360-855-2245 or via email here.

Thank you for your cooperation!

USSA Locale

I've had several inquiries regarding the location of USSA in Tulsa. The Academy is located on E 66th St N, and it's a 12 minute drive from the airport, approximately 5-6 miles. There are various hotels located between the airport and the range.

Hope this helps with planning!

All Over But The Crying

The Handgun Nationals are now officially over. We had two great matches with record-breaking attendance. The match results for both are available here. You'll need the username and password from Front Sight magazine to access those.

Thanks for coming out and playing with us, hope to see you at the next one!

    Couple notes:

  • There will be a membership meeting Monday, July 18th at 7:30 at QCVB.

  • The ranges will be closed until Sunday morning, at 0900. No competitors will be allowed on the range on Saturday.

  • It's *HOT* here. Be sure to stock up on water and cool, comfortable clothes.

  • Bring some spray and be mindful of ticks and mosquitos.
  • The setup crew has been working HARD all week and then some to finish bringing this together, so come prepared for a great match and loads of fun!

    Where to Go

If you're squadding yourself and you see "Saturday @ 8:40" for a start time, please ignore it. We did change the label to read "Regular Squad" but unless you've cleaned out your browser's cache recently you may still see a Saturday start time for both matches.

The LPR match registration is Sunday, July 17th from 9am to noon followed by a shooter's meeting @ noon. Competition begins at 1 PM on Sunday the 17th, NOT AT 8:40 AM on Saturday.

The Open/Lim-10 match registration is from 2 to 5 on Wednesday, July 20th, followed by a shooter's meeting at 5 PM. Competition will begin the next morning, Thursday, July 21st at 8 AM.

If you're shooting both matches you will be able to register for both at the LPR match.

Use the links for the squad schedules over on the left sidebar to figure out where to go and when for each match.

    Bits and Pieces

Self squadding is now available at www.uspsa.org/squadding. Letters with a personalized PIN started arriving to some competitors on Friday, June 24th. If yours hasn't arrived yet, it's on the way and should arrive any day now.

Spectators are of course welcome to come out and watch the match(es) at PASA. Just be sure to bring adequate eye and ear protection and to be mindful of what's happening on the stages you're viewing. It wouldn't be a good idea to step onto a stage that's still hot. If you have any questions about what to expect, please feel free to stop by Shooter's Services for assistance.

We expect very warm weather and lots of sunshine at PASA in July, so spectators and participants alike should bring plenty of sunscreen and water.

As a reminder, July 1st is the deadline for reserving golf carts. So if you're planning to do that, better get on it. USPSA doesn't handle those reservations, but here's the entry link with that information.

    Squadding Update

The letters with the PINS are being mailed tomorrow, 6/22. Domestic competitors will receive a letter from our mailing service, and foreign competitors will receive a letter directly from USPSA HQ.

Squadding opens tomorrow (Wed, 6/22) at Midnight. The 7 digit PIN code from your front sight label will also work in addition to the PIN we are mailing you.

Yes, I realize it would have been nice to "pre-announce" this a bit, however, time is of the essence and we simply don't have the time to wait a few days for the letters to arrive, open up squadding, close it on 7/7, and then squad those who have not chosen a squad.

Also, the original plan to pre-squad all "M" class competitors together was not possible due to the amount of time left before the match. The final super-squad list was delivered yesterday, and the on-line system was configured and the mailing provided to our distribution service within one business day of that time.

Thank you all for your patience during this process!

    A True Original

UPDATE: Slots not signed and received in office by July 1st will be voided and reissued to those on the waiting list. Don't hesitate. Get your slot in IMMEDIATELY.

If you received a slot via the wait list and have not yet signed the original and returned it, DO SO NOW. You are not officially "in" the match until we receive the original slot form back in office. We can't and won't issue you a shooter number, squadding PIN, order nametags, shirt, etc until we have it back here and time is growing short. Please don't wait another day longer; sign it and return it immediately. Slots not returned are at risk of being forfeited and reissued to someone else on the wait list.

Also, member Paul Carlson wrote in with this:

I saw that there was a request from another shooter for the lat and long of PASA park. Here is the number I have stored in my GPS unit. Please share it with the interested party.

    N39 43.827 W91 04.063

    Thanks, Paul!

    Online Squadding

Kim, Can you let us know if or when the squadding letter went or will go out? I have not seen it here yet in NJ. Maybe a post to the website, or on the Enos Forum? Thanks

The squadding PINS and letters have not yet gone out. I apologize for the delay. There's a problem synchronizing the DB I use to keep track of entries and the online squadding system. However, it's only minor and scheduled for repair on Monday the 6th. I hope to get the letters out late next week. As soon as the letters have been mailed, we will activate the online squadding system here.

    Thanks for your patience!
    Kim

    Notes on Self Squadding

The following polices will be used for the 2005 Handgun Nationals squadding (both matches) :

  • We will be using the on-line squadding system.

  • Each competitor will receive a confirmation letter with the PIN used to make a squad selection. This letter is not the same as your confirmation packet with the welcome letter, brochures and area information that have already started going out. The PIN letters will not start going out until late May.

  • USPSA headquarters will assign selected individuals to "Super squads." Competitors assigned to the "Super Squads" will not be able to use the self-service system to change their squadding assignment. If you are selected for the Super Squad, but prefer not to be on this squad, please contact USPSA Headquarters to make your request. We cannot guarantee that requests to be removed from the Super Squad will be granted. Requests to be added to the Super Squad will not be entertained.

  • All competitors with a GM classification rating, but not selected for the super squads, will be given an initial squad assignment by USPSA HQ, which will assure that every GM is initially in a squad with other GM competitors. These are initial squadding assignments only. These competitors may use the self-service system to change their squadding assignment.

  • Competitor names will be shown on the squadding list. If you wish to have your name kept private, please email kim@uspsa.org or write this request at the top of your slot form. If you have selected this option, you will have to use your competitor number (which will be in a separate letter) to select your squad assignment.

  • If a competitor does not choose a squad by July 5, 2005, USPSA will assign one for you. Squad assignments cannot be changed at the match, so please use this system to select a squad which suits your preferences.

    Wait List is Live

Yes, it's true. The Nationals wait list is now online and active. Very, very active. If you didn't receive a slot to your match of choice go here to sign up for one. You will need your USPSA number and the password and user name used to access the member's area of the website. Please keep in mind that there is a $20 fee to sign up on the wait list. The fee will be taken from your entry cost if a slot is offered to you, refunded if a slot does not become available and forfeited if a slot is offered and you decline it. This measure is in place to cut down on the number of frivolous sign ups we've experienced in the past.

Also, once you sign up on the wait list it is not necessary to email USPSA HQ to "double check" your entry. It's also probably not a good idea to call and/or write HQ to find out where you are on the list or how long we think it might take you to get a slot. We'd love to be able to give you that information, but the fact is we just don't know until all the slots have been voided, recounted, tallied and prepared for redistribution. If we're tied up with answering emails and calls like these it will just take us that much longer to get to the redistribution. Rest assured we'll get the slots out to you as soon as we possibly can.

Your cooperation and patience is greatly appreciated!

    Deadline Reminder

Slots MUST be returned by April 8th. If not returned by that date, they will be voided and reissued to someone on the wait list -- NO EXCEPTIONS.

Getting your slot in right away means getting registered for the match right away. It means your name will get up on the web faster for self squadding. It means insuring a place for you in the match. And it means Kim won't hunt you down and do terrible things to you.

So, if you haven't already, fill it out and get it in TODAY!

    Golf Carts

Last year's successful policy of allowing golf carts on the range at PASA will continue in 2005. You may bring your own cart, or you may rent locally from TNT Golf Cart Company. To obtain rate information or to make reservations, call TNT at 217-228-2226 and ask for Maroline Long. Reservations must be made by July 1, 2005.

This arrangement is between the individual and TNT. Neither USPSA nor PASA Park assumes any responsibility for any aspect of the transaction. No USPSA, PASA, or match staff will be available to assist you with any aspect of your arrangements with TNT.

No 4-wheelers or other all terrain vehicles will be allowed on the range.

No competitor car/truck parking will be allowed except in designated areas near the entrance to PASA Park. No competitor vehicles, other than golf carts, will be allowed on the hill or in practical valley.

    Schedule Change

USPSA has been forced to move the Handgun Nationals from the week of July 24th to the week of July 17th because of other events in host city Quincy, Illinois. Our members, staff, and sponsors would have been unable to locate hotel accommodations on the original dates. USPSA regrets any inconvenience created by this unavoidable change.
