Nationals Slot Distribution Timeline
National Slot Distribution Timeline & Details
It is time once again to make preparations for the 2012 National Championships. It's a busy time of year for us here at HQ and there are a few things you can do to help us make sure the whole process goes smoothly. Working together we can make this year's match the best one yet!
Earned Slots
USPSA's Nationals are invitation-only matches. We have begun making calls to those members who have earned slots. If you received one of those calls, and you accepted, congratulations! You're on your way to The Nationals! Please be aware that the slot forms will be mailed around the first week of February. These are two-part NCR forms. Be sure to complete the entire form with accurate and up-to-date information. We will use this information to populate the match database so it's important that we get it right. You can help by writing legibly or typing out your answers. Be sure to sign and date your invitation in the appropriate places. Retain the yellow copy for your records. It's a good idea to do this at least until you get your confirmation packet. We will try to turn confirmations right around, but please be patient. Depending on the volume we receive on a daily basis, it may take us some time to turn them around.
Be sure to contact us if you haven't received your slot by the 1st week of March. Likewise, if you don't receive your confirmation within a reasonable time after mailing your slot, follow up with us. Slots will be voided at 5 p.m., PT, on Friday, June 18th. That means if your slot has not been received in office, with proper payment, by June 18th, it's gone and we can't get it back to you -- no matter how much we might like to -- so follow up if you suspect your paperwork might have been lost in the mail. We can send you a replacement, but there's nothing we can do for you after the 18th of June.
Slots should be returned to:
USPSA
872 North Hill Blvd
Burlington, WA 98233
If you did not receive a call regarding an earned slot, but think you should have, please review the slot policy here to ensure your eligibility. If, after reviewing the policy you still think you should have received a call, let us know. Email me (kim@uspsa.org) with your information, including full name, member number and where/when you think the slot was earned. I'll look into it for you.
If you receive your slot and are not able to attend, please send the slot back to us for re-issue to the wait list.
Wait List
If you did not earn a slot and wish to attend anyway, please consider signing up on the wait list. Wait list slots are released on a first-come, first-serve basis as slots are returned by clubs, sections and individuals who aren't able to attend. After all unreturned slots are voided on June 18th; we will release those to the wait list as well.
There is a $10 fee to register on the wait list. That fee will be handled in one of the following ways:
1) If you are offered a slot the $10 will be deducted from your entry fee.
2) If you are offered a slot but decline it, the $10 will be donated to the Wounded Warrior Project on October 22nd, 2012.
3) If you are not offered a slot we will donate $10 on your behalf to the Wounded Warrior Project on October 22nd, 2012. You may opt out of this donation if you choose by requesting a refund of the $10 fee, in writing, by the donation date of October 22nd, 2012.
To learn more about the Wounded Warrior Project, please go here.
You will find the waitlist here: www.uspsa.org/waitlist but please keep in mind that it is not yet functional. The list will open at 10:00PM Eastern Daylight (2200 UTC-04) Time on June 4th, 2012.
Squadding
We will be using self squadding for the matches this year. Competitors will go to http://www.uspsa.org/squadding , click on the link for the appropriate match and squad themselves there. You may use either your PIN (from your Front Sight label) or personal password set in your profile to select your squad. In order for your PIN or personal profile password to work, you must be registered with your correct USPSA member number.
Refund Policy
USPSA will charge a $75 cancellation fee on all refund requests received in Burlington on or before Sept. 14, 2012; the cancellation fee will be 50% of the match fee if the request is received after Sept. 14, 2012. Requests for refunds received after Oct. 13 for LPR and October 17 for OL10 will not be granted. Refund requests MUST be made via U.S. Mail, fax or email. Refund requests cannot be processed over the phone.
Communication
We will continue to update this site with match details as we get them finalized. Check back here regularly for updates on round count, stages, match hotel, schedule and other important match details.
Thanks so much for your cooperation and we very much hope to see you on the range! :)

Match Hotel review by Kim Williams
This past weekend I went to tour the new host hotel for the Nationals, The Riviera. I thought I would give a public review of my tour here, to assist members with travel plans for the match.
First of all, a disclaimer and some background info: A match of this size, as I’m sure you can imagine, is quite expensive to produce. USPSA receives discounts on sleeping rooms, staff meals, meeting rooms and catering for each room booked through our group code. These discounts significantly help defray the costs associated with this match. In an effort to keep match fees as low as possible, we seek out these discounts. In other words, it benefits the organization when you take advantage of the discounted travel arrangements we set up with partners such as The Riviera and our rental car company, Dollar Rent a Car.
That said, this is still an honest review. I don’t wish to “trick” anyone into booking somewhere just to increase our pickups. The Riviera is not a perfect property. It is aging and does need work. There are many other nicer properties in Vegas; I’m not going to lie. However, those other properties are priced way outside of our budget and using them to house staff and host awards would most definitely result in the need for a higher match fee. The Riviera is motivated to work with us and wants our business. Their staff has been very helpful and accommodating and they are willing to deal.
The property was recently purchased by a larger chain and is undergoing some much-needed renovation. When I toured I could see that a great deal has already been done. While the casino is smoky, a little small and outdated, the rooms, located in a tower closer to the convention center and away from the casino are new, clean, smoke-free and very comfortable. Each room in our tower has a medium-sized refrigerator, LCD TVs and mp3/iPod-compatible clock radios. The beds are clean and comfortable and the furnishings are new and modern. The bathrooms are very nice -- large, well-lit and clean. The carpet was clean and free of spots and obvious dirt. Even the halls smelled fresh and clean. You can view a photo of the room on their website. Our group is in the Monaco Tower.
Because the sale of the casino is fairly recent there are ongoing improvements being made right now. Many of the shops and restaurants were closed and covered up, but my contact at the hotel tells me they will have new shops in them by the time our event rolls around this fall. Besides the standard buffet, coffee shop and café, there is also a Chinese restaurant and a steakhouse. In addition, there’s a fairly large food court near the pool area with a variety of quick options such as Quizno’s and Wok Express. I was told they are also adding a Starbucks and a Dunkin’ Donuts. The pool was clean and well-maintained and there are cabanas for rent, daily, around the pool. There’s a nice little beach bar in this area as well.
With over 135k square feet of meeting space, the property is more than able to accommodate our group functions. I toured those rooms as well and found them to be well-appointed and clean and highly configurable for our various needs.
All in all, I was pleasantly surprised by my tour of the facility and I think you will be, too. Of course it’s not the Bellagio, but for our budget and needs, it is a great property with a lot of potential.
We understand that you may not choose to book through our partners and that’s perfectly okay. From eleven years of organizing this event I am well-aware that people have their favorite properties and brands they like to deal with. Some of you have time-shares or friends or family in town. Some of you just may not find the Riviera to your liking. That’s okay. We won’t hold it against you, we promise. This is just a message to thank those of you who support our match in this way, as well as help to inform the decision for those of you who haven’t yet made plans.
If you have any questions about our partnerships with these companies please feel free to email me. Understand that I work for USPSA, not our partners so I am unable to assist you with actually making your reservations. I will, however, be happy to answer any questions you might have or refer you to the appropriate contact if you experience trouble.
The confirmation letter with hotel information (also available on this site) is available as a PDF here. The flyer for discounted rental cars is available here.
Thanks and we’ll see you on the range!

Thanks!
A big THANK YOU to those USPSA members who are booking their Nationals hotel rooms and rental cars through our partners, Dollar Car Rental and The Riviera. The pickup reports are looking great and that really helps us offset expenses for these matches.
