Area 6 Championship picks up more sponsors

USPSA Area 6 Match Picks Up More Sponsors

SEDRO-WOOLLEY, Wash. — The first U.S. Practical Shooting Association (USPSA) regional match of the year, the Area 6 Championship sponsored by Glock, looks to kick off the championship season in strong fashion with the addition of eight corporate sponsors.

Antler Printing, Competitive Edge Dynamics, Pro-Tech Co. and Velocity Shooter will be stage sponsors while Accurate Edge, Rugged Gear, Saw Custom and SureFire will serve as co-stage sponsors. This brings the total number of sponsors to 15 with more expected to be announced before the mid-April match.

“We deeply appreciate the tremendous support the industry has shown the Area 6 Championship. Their generosity is why we think ours in the top regional shoot in the sport and a 'must attend' for so many top competitors,” said Charles Bond, USPSA Area 6 director.

“Overall, the sport of Practical Shooting has seen solid growth despite the down economy. Our membership rolls have expanded by over 12% in the past two years bringing our total membership to over 18,000. I have no doubt that this could not have been achieved without the partnerships we've developed within the industry,” continued Bond.

The eight newly announced sponsors join, Glock, the match's main sponsor, Atlanta Arms & Ammo, Brazos Custom Gunworks, Montana Gold Bullet, Shooters Connection, Springfield Armory and Techwear USA to help put on the Area 6 Championship which will take place at the South River Gun Club in Covington, Ga., April 16 through 18.

Some 325 shooters from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee, the states that make up the Area 6 region, and 20 other states are expected to attend as well as international shooters from Columbia and Jamaica.

More than 80,000 rounds will be put down range as competitors negotiate their way through 12 challenging stages, vying for top honors in six divisions: Production, Limited, Limited-10, Single Stack, Revolver and Open.

For more information on the USPSA Area 6 Championship sponsored by Glock, or to register to compete in the match, visit www.USPSA6.org.

Similar to last year's wait list, you will not be allowed to pay for the first 24 hours. This is to avoid causing the site to lock up. Instead, you will be prompted on your classification page to go back in and pay after the early rush has subsided.

BOULDER CITY, Nev. — Daniel Horner of the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit left no doubt as to who is the top Multi-Gun shooter in the country as he crushed a field of nearly 85 shooters to win the Tactical Division title at the 2009 U.S. Practical Shooting Association’s (USPSA) Multi-Gun National Championships.

Multi Gun Divisions added for Heavy Metal

There was an error on the Multi Gun application which may have caused some confusion. 'Heavy Metal' was listed next to the categories, although it is not a category. We intended it to be an 'add' for the division - If a shooter was signed up for Tactical, for instance, and also circled 'Heavy Metal', we would place them in the Heavy Metal Tactical Division.

Suffice it to say, this hasn't worked very well at all. If you are signed up to shoot the 2009 DPMS USPSA Multi Gun Nationals and would like to shoot in either Heavy Metal Tactical or Heavy Metal Standard(Limited) Divisions, please email Matt Pickhardt in order to get your entry changed. We can also make this change at registration, but for efficiency's sake it is better to switch as soon as possible. The updated application is available on the left sidebar as well as below:

Download file (pdf)
Download file (doc)

Our apologies for any confusion or inconvenience this oversight has caused.
